Liverpool's programme is unusually venue-led. The Philharmonic, the Everyman and Playhouse, the Cavern, Invisible Wind Factory and the M&S Bank Arena each publish their own seasons, and the waterfront festivals run separately again.
Which Liverpool listings are worth checking?
The Liverpool Philharmonic covers classical and a surprisingly broad contemporary programme. The Everyman and the Playhouse share a site and carry most of the city's theatre. For gigs, the O2 Academy, District, and Invisible Wind Factory in the Ten Streets area are the reliable checks - the last of those in particular programmes things nothing else lists.
Tate Liverpool is closed for redevelopment, but the Walker Art Gallery and the Museum of Liverpool both run talks and late openings alongside their exhibitions. Sound City and Africa Oyé each run their own festival sites.
