Birmingham
Where to find events in Birmingham.
Birmingham's events are spread across a wide city rather than concentrated in one quarter, so the listings are genuinely fragmented - the Utilita Arena, Symphony Hall, the Hippodrome and the Custard Factory all pull different crowds and publish separately.
Which Birmingham listings are worth checking?
Symphony Hall and Town Hall cover classical, jazz and touring acts and share a booking site. The Birmingham Hippodrome handles large-scale touring theatre and the annual pantomime; the Birmingham Rep programmes new work alongside it. For gigs, the O2 Institute, the Mill in Digbeth and Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath are the ones worth checking directly.
Digbeth is where most of the independent programming sits now - the Custard Factory, Digbeth Dining Club and the venues around them run food events, markets and club nights that rarely reach the citywide guides.
For families, Thinktank, the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Cadbury World all run seasonal programmes. The event sites below cover all of it.
